Latest Generation Optimax Dragline Bucket

Thursday 6th July 2017 saw the fitting of BHP Caval Ridge Mine’s latest generation
“Optimax” Bucket to Dragline 35, Designed and Manufactured by SIMCO Mining Products & Services, targeted to carry 116 tonnes of material in each load, with a rated capacity of over 50m³

OptimaxThe unique design of the Basket allowed for the removal of the Rigging’s Spreader Bar whichprovides significant weight savings to the overall Bucket and Rigging combined mass, such weight savings allowed the Bucket’s Rated Capacity to be increased which delivers increased Productivity to the mine.

“Moving dirt not steel” was the key goal in the design discussions between BHP Caval Ridge Mine’s Troy Busk and Martin Simpson SIMCO’s Managing Director

Since commissioning the operator feedback has been excellent and the Production numbers are in line with the expectations of both BHP Caval Ridge Mine and SIMCO Mining Products & Service
